On Sunday November 6, Royce Gracie paid a visit to TJJ Durham for an awesome seminar. The Seminar included self defense as well as sport techniques. Royce also promoted several students to new belts. Durham head instructor Seth Shamp received his long awaited brown belt. Long time student and assistant instructor Ryan Hanseler received his purple belt. Also Jeff Hart, Brandon Lewis, and Chris Collins received their blue belts. Many other students received stripes. Thanks to Royce for another fantastic seminar!

On Saturday October 1, Triangle Jiu-Jitsu/Team Royce Gracie took a small team to the No Gi Pan American Championship in New York City. TJJ took a team of five and came back with two gold medals, a silver medal, and two bronze medals. Seth won the Masters Purple Belt Super Heavyweight Title. Kim won the Blue Belt Middleweight Title as well as taking third in the Absolute division. Hameed took second in the Senior 1 Medium Heavyweight Blue Belt division and third in the Senior 1 blue belt absolute. It is worth nothing that Kim and Hameed have only been blue belts for a little over one month. Next year, TJJ/Royce Gracie will take a much bigger team and look to make a BIG impression.

Things have been busy for Triangle Jiu-Jitsu lately! In May, our Goldsboro school changed locations. We are now located at 188 NC 581 Hwy South, Goldsboro, NC, 27530. Since the move, our new schedule is as follows:
Monday/Wednesday/Friday
10:30 - Jiu-Jitsu
5:00 - Kids
6:00 - Jiu-Jitsu
Tuesday/Thursday
10:30 - No Gi/MMA
6:00 - No Gi/MMA
Our students have also been busy since the move. In June, Steven returned to the cage at the Last Man Standing event in Wake Forrest. Steven won by TKO when his opponent refused to answer the bell for the third round. On July 9, several students competed at the Grapplemania event in Henderson. Our very own Kim Rice won the competitor of the day award. Kim had 12 matches and finished all 12 by submission on her way to winning four Gold medals: her weight and the absolute in the Gi and No Gi divisions. The next weekend, Aaron made his MMA debut in the Modern Gladiators event in Virginia Beach. Aaron won a unanimous decision over a very tough opponent with three fights under his belt. Finally, two TJJ fighters fought this past Saturday. Jojo made his MMA debut in the World Combat Federation Bull City Brawl in Durham. After easily controling the first round, Jojo got caught with a punch just five seconds into the second round and the fight was stopped. Still, Jojo represented TJJ very well and we are very proud of him. Finally, Jake successfully defended his CFP welterweight title yet again in Fayetteville at the Carolina Crown event. Jake had previously been ranked the #1 welterweight in the state, however leading up to the fight, Jake's opponent had been moved to #1. Jake put any doubt to rest with a dominant 4th Round stoppage over a very game Will Estes. Jake now returns to his spot as the #1 welterweight in the Carolinas. Here is a report about Jake's fight: http://prommanow.com/index.php/2011/07/31/carolina-fight-promotions-16-results-recap-and-commentary/
